Happy New Year and Welcome Signature Property Management and New Board Members!
As you have read in the letters that have been sent to you, Tomahawk Creek Condominiums are now being managed by Signature Property Management. Signature has taken the place of The Tiehen Group.
You will be seeing some new and old faces around the property. In the office is Leslie Champion, the new on-site property manager. Around the property you will still see Bill Gates, our maintenance guy. Also on property from time to time will be Samantha Gwin, Regional Property Supervisor. A meet and greet with all the employees will be set up soon. Stay tuned.
If you have any questions about online dues payment, please call Leslie Champion in the office at 913.663.1103. She will happy to help you set up payments.
The community elected two new board members at the annual meeting. Please welcome John McKelvey and Gerald Clamors to the board. You can meet John and Gerald at the first board meeting on January 20, 2011. All board meetings are open to residents and take place the third Thursday of the month at 6:15 p.m. in the clubhouse.
Tomahawk Creek also has a social committee, a nominating committee, a landscape committee, a computer services committee, the covenants committee and the architectural standards committee. Some of these committees are fully functioning and some are not. New members are always welcome. Join for a year, or just join for one project. Either way, your involvement is appreciated. Watch the bulletin board and newsletters for meeting information on these committees.

Annual Meeting!!
It is once again time for the annual meeting! The main thing we need to accomplish is to vote in two board members. If you can't make it down to the clubhouse that night, please turn in your proxy.
The meeting is on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 16TH AT 7 PM.

Emergency Warning Siren
The following is a memo from our Fire Department regarding the new emergency warning siren:

As you may have noticed, a new outdoor emergency warning siren was recently installed on the north side of the intersection at 115th & Granada in Leawood. We feel very fortunate to have added this siren to Johnson County's network of emergency warning sirens, as it will enhance our capability to provide early warning in the event of severe weather or other significant emergencies.
To help ensure that the warning sirens are operating appropriately, the sirens are tested at 11 :00 AM on the first Wednesday of each month, weather permitting. The monthly test will generally not be conducted if the potential for severe weather or extreme cold/ice exists in the area. The only exception is in March of each year, when the test is typically conducted on a Tuesday or Thursday, in conjunction with Severe Weather Awareness Week.
The next scheduled test of the outdoor warning system is scheduled for 11 :00 AM on Wednesday, December 1st. Please pass this information on to your residents, occupants, etc. so they will not be startled or surprised when the test begins. While the emergency warning system is intended to provide an early warning to those outside during severe weather, the siren may also be heard inside buildings in close proximity to one of the sirens.

Elections!
Board of Directors Elections
One of the most important decisions you can make for your community is to get involved. A great way to be involved is to serve on the board of directors. This year there are two positions opening up on the board of directors. These positions will serve a two year term. The two directors whose term is coming to an end are Gerald Clamors and Daphne Reitz. The remaining board members are Don Lickteig, Jo So, and Gayle Voyles.
If you feel you possess the qualifications and commitment to maintain the high standards of our community, please complete an application.
Applications are available in the clubhouse, mail room, or via this blog in the pages section and are due December 1st.
If you feel you do not have the time to personally serve, please encourage a neighbor to consider serving.

Holiday Social Activities
Cookie Exchange and Tree Trimming
December 2, Thursday, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Bring two (2) dozen of your favorite cookies along with two copies of the recipe to share. Package each dozen individually for easy exchanging. You'll go home ready to serve up some new holiday treats!
The HOA will provide light appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages while we start trimming the tree.

Join us for Saturday morning coffee for friendship and fun as we put the final touches on the holiday tree.
The HOA will provide a coffee bar (delightful treats to fill your cup, flavored creamers, chocolate shavings, whipped cream, etc.) and breakfast pastries.

Trash Tips
Here are the rules regarding the trash:
1. Please (please!) put your trash in trash bags, not grocery sacks. Especially do not put trash in paper grocery sacks, as they inevitably tip over and spill the contents.
2. Please do not place your trash out the night before, as wildlife such as possums, raccoons, and birds are beginning to feed off of it, scattering it around and causing pest control problems.
3. Please bag ALL trash. Do not leave individual pieces of trash (such as Tide containers, for example) out on the curb for Bill to pick up. If an item is too big to bag, it may need to be put in the bulk trash dumpster which is here every Spring and Fall.
4. Please break down all boxes that do not fit in a bag. Do NOT fill boxes (such as unbroken-down TV boxes, for example) with loose trash. This necessitates Bill fetching trash bags and bagging your trash, piece by piece. Then he must break down the box himself.
5. Don't put hazardous materials in the trash. This includes paint cans.
6. Don't put things in the trash that will explode upon being compacted. This includes aerosol cans that are not fully emptied. To fully empty an aerosol can, turn it upside down while spraying out the last of the gas. It is now safe to put in the trash.
7. When putting trash directly in the compactor yourself, such as on the weekends, please put the trash IN the compactor and not on the ground outside of the compactor. If the trash seems full, please compact it by turning the key.
8. Finally, please do not park in the "red zone" across from the dumpster. The Deffenbaugh truck needs this space to maneuver.
